Eid Announcements (updated 9/8/2010)

Eid will be on Friday, September 10, 2010

The crescent of the new moon has not been sighted anywhere in the world. Therefore, we will complete 30 days of Ramadan and celebrate Eid ul Fitr on Friday.

Time and Location of Eid Prayer

Eid Prayer will be held in the Exposition Center at the State Fairgrounds. The gathering will begin at 7:30am. Because of rush hour traffic and parking delays, please try to arrive as early as possible. Eid prayer will be at 9:00am sharp. Eid prayer will be lead by Imam Baianonie. The Eid khutbah, "The Grassroots Effort to Spread the Light of Islam", will be delivered by Brother Aquil Roberson.

Zakaat ul Fitr

Zakaat ul Fitr is $10 per person and must be given before the Eid Prayer. We will collect Zakaat ul Fitr during the remaining days of Ramadan and until the beginning of the prayer. Immediately after the prayer, we will collect donations for the victims of the Pakistan flood disaster.

Preparing for Eid

Please bring a prayer rug with you to the Eid prayer. Jummah prayers are not obligatory for those who attend the Eid prayer. We will however offer the third shift of Jummah at the Islamic Center of Raleigh. Jummah prayers will also be held at the Islamic Center of Morrisville.
